MembershipThe membership drive is this month. The person with the most members recruited by March 20th will receive a ROKU Box which makes your TV a Smart TV with an Internet connection. It also gives you access to several free channels and movies via the web on your digital TV. Currently the leader has 3 new members recruited to the Unit. Renewals including your own is acceptable. See application attached. Go forth and prosper.
HealthSave the date for: the Spring into Good Health Fair this coming Saturday March 15th from 9-1 at Bethel Baptist Church 323 Court St. Please come and at least get the free screenings and support this committee. Tell a friend and keep a friend living for along time to come. For the free Mammograms you must be a member or immediately related to one. The sign up for the Mobile Mammogram ends on Wednesday March 12th. So, call 903-315-2130 now to get started. Remember it is free with health insurance, only $99 without. The Health Committee is also responsible for our program during the Third Thursday Meeting on March 20th at 6:30 this month as well. See poster attached.
EducationThere will be two days of listening and outreach all due to the Education Committee's diligence with the LISD Trustees. They have struggled and fought hard to get March 17th at Noon and March 18th at 5:30 pm for people to come to the ESC Building 1301 E. Young St. to provide input to the Trustees as to whom they wish to see take the open Superintendent position. Please prepare yourself and be thinking of what you would like to see in the character for LISD's next chief. April 17th is the Education Committees Third Thursday meeting with special guest Ted Beard sharing. See flier attached.
WIN: Women in the NAACPThere will be a Parade of Tables at First Presbyterian Church on April 5th at 4:00 pm. Seats at the table are only $20. The catch is that the table needs to be decorated and the winners are recognized. Contact Pam if your interested in supporting this effort of a local church (Abundant Life) who seeks to provide scholarships to 2 young people annually.
National Women and Girls AIDS Awareness Day was very fruitful in information sharing as Sunday there was an early Dinner at Summit by Wellness Pointe with dynamic speakers. Today we held a press conference at SHRT and we received coverage from CBS 19, News Journal, and East Texas Review.
Political ActionThere is at least 1 run-off for Precinct 4 Justice of the Peace. So those whom live in that Precinct need to go vote again. Here is the Calendar for dates to know.
